Retrofit dual flush toilet mechanisms

Why conserve water?

“Wars will be fought over water in the next century” - Legenary Springbok Yacthsman Bertie Reed, 1998.

Water is our most precious commodity

Many people are not aware that South Africa is a water scarce country. Water is the oxygen of our economy. Most of us take our water for granted. Water, it’s been said, is the "oil of the 21st century". The demand for water is leading some to compare water to oil. Yet the comparison between oil and water only can be stretched so far. Life needs water to live; life doesn't need oil to survive. Water is the only commodity that has absolutely no substitute at any price.

Oceans hold 97% of surface water, glaciers and polar ice caps 2.4%, and other land surface water such as rivers, lakes and ponds 0.6%. A very small amount of the Earth's water is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products. In June 2006 the WWF-SA (World Wildlife Fund – South Africa) warned that South Africa’s water demand will exceed supply by 2025. Further to this, climate change models predict that the entire country will become drier, especially in the Western parts.
